Quality of water.
Weskus Distrik complies with the South African National Standard (SANS) 241. SANS is a drinking water specification that states the minimum requirements for potable water considered safe for human consumption. Test are conducted every week, and the data is saved on our platform.

Jan de Koker – 40 years track record, with practical experience.
Ben van der Merwe – 25 years’ experience in water purification management, project management, and Class 5 process control.
Johannes van der Merwe – Electrical Engineering Diploma, with 30 years’ technical experience, and 15 years’ experience in water SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), telemetry, and electrical distribution networks.
I have a diploma in Civil Engineering, and a Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. In terms of practical experience, 35 years in civil construction and roads, project management and of course, water.
Core functions.
The Weskus Distrik team is well-geared to manage several functions including purification and distribution of water through pipelines; the pump stations; essential control systems; electrical distribution, and the control mechanisms needed to effectively measure and manage bulk water systems, among others.
Risk Management.
Risks can include floods; droughts; electrical blackouts, and major equipment failure.
We serve local municipalities which are responsible for capital funding and have maintenance service level agreements in place with them. Wherever possible, we take steps to prevent or mitigate the risks mentioned.
Weskus Distrik also has a highly responsive Disaster Management Centre with state-of-the-art technology which steps in to assist the Weskus community in the event of disasters such as flooding.
