Weskus District has excelled in the Auditor General’s annual Information and Communication Technology (ICT) audit, demonstrating an efficient, secure, stable, and reliable network infrastructure that supports service delivery initiatives. Hendrik Matthews, Manager of Information Technology, shares insights on this achievement.
While the region’s local municipalities interact directly with residents, Weskus District’s advanced technology plays a strategic role by enabling swift data access and informed decision-making to better serve municipal stakeholders.
The audit covers a comprehensive range of areas including IT Governance, User Access Management, IT Service Continuity, Change Control Management, Systems Access Audit, and Security Management.
Notable improvements in 2023/24 include upgrades to Cloud Storage, VoIP systems, Wi-Fi coverage, and Internet access. These enhancements have significantly upgraded Weskus District’s digital infrastructure, increased productivity, and improved communication effectiveness.
