Getting quality water to the region’s municipalities is one thing but ensuring that it stays uncontaminated and fit for use is another story.
Contamination can come from various sources and preventative measures must be evident and proven through planned monitoring.
There have been publicised cases of municipalities not advising their communities when water was found to be unsafe for consumption. This is irresponsible. If contaminated water is identified, it must be communicated immediately to the community along with guidance on how to treat the water so that it’s safe to use.
