In 2021-2022, only 15% of South Africa’s municipalities achieved clean audits whereas in 2022-2023 Weskus Distrik achieved it for the 13th year in a row.
What does a clean audit mean?
The Auditor General focuses on auditing areas intended to achieve sustainable objectives and development for all South Africans. These areas dominate public funds and have the greatest impact on the lives of our people. They therefore enjoy stringent oversight and scrutiny to ensure that our people benefit from essential services, and that budgeted funds are used in a way that creates the best value for money for our people and communities.
When a district or local municipality receives a clean audit from the Auditor General it means that its financial statements and performance reflects a credible and transparent account of its performances against service delivery goals, and that they are running a clean administration.
Weskus Distrik gets it right consistently which is testament to the quality of our leaders, people, and partners, all dedicated to making Weskus a quality place to live, thrive, and strive in.
