What’s it like to work with Weskus Distrik’s Executive Mayor RW “Boffie” Strydom? Who better to answer than D’niel Smit, our mayor’s Personal Assistant for six years.
Our mayor is not one for much formality. How do you address him?
I refer to him as “Mayor”. When more relaxed, and appropriate, I’ll call him “Oom Boffie”.
Describe the mayor in 5 words.
Authentic, compassionate, diligent, considerate and attentive.
Our mayor is pretty active?
Very much so!
When he is not in office doing his Administration, having meetings with residents of the district or trying to solve world hunger, you’ll find him busy with many activities such as:
- Council Meetings.
- Portfolio and Mayco meetings.
- Expo events, Premier visits, and Leadership forums.
- Site visits around the country to learn or to share knowledge.
- Attending key government agency events and working groups.
- Chairing the District Health Council.
- Visiting and engaging with communities in their areas.
- Attending handovers, ranging from fund presentations to drones and everything in between.
If the mayor was a brand, what would his brand archetype be?
The mayor would closely resemble the Hero archetype. Just like the Hero brand archetype the Mayor has a strong sense of right and wrong, looks to make a difference and seeks to overcome injustices and problems.
