Internal Audit Manager Karel Frans has been with us for 10 years and plays a key role in Weskus Distrik being rated as the best-run municipality in South Africa.
When you think ‘audit’ you’re inclined to think about financials, but Karel’s role extends beyond the numbers to controls, processes, risk management, governance, compliance, and strategic and operational plans among others. Achieving objectives requires an audit of all the moving parts, checking that everything is running according to plan.
Karel is confident that 12 years of clean audits will soon extend to thirteen.
