Meet expectations and grow further

“Reflections on Staying On: My Journey with Weskus” – Carolyn-Lee Andrews

You’re staying on at Weskus after your 2024 internship? How does that make you feel?

I am very grateful for the opportunity to stay on, but I’m also feeling a bit nervous because I know the stakes are higher and more will be expected of me. It’s a big responsibility, and I want to make sure I meet those expectations while continuing to grow and contribute.

What will you be doing, and where will you be working?

I will be responsible for taking meeting minutes and being on standby to support the call takers and dispatchers. This role will allow me to be involved in various aspects of the operation, and I’m eager to help ensure everything runs smoothly.

What are the most important things the internship taught you?

The internship taught me the importance of time management and how to work effectively as part of a team. I’ve also learned how crucial it is to prioritize my mental health, especially in a high-pressure environment like Disaster Management. Taking care of yourself is essential in being able to perform well and stay focused during challenging times.
