Fritz and his wife Zelda moved from the leafy suburb of Tokai to Moorreesburg 18 years ago.
He owns a successful website development company called Masterweb, and an e-commerce business which markets interior decorating products.
“I’m fortunate as my business can be run remotely. At a time when people are being asked to return to the office, my business has no such demands. Zelda commutes to her corporate job in Durbanville but that’s an hour or less from Moorreesburg. If I need an infrequent in-person meeting or need to get to the airport, it’s just about an hour’s drive”.
Apart from running a successful business, Fritz is also Chairperson of the Moorreesburg Business Chamber.
“Our aims are similar to that of Weskus Distrik. We want to encourage large and small businesses to join us on the Weskus. The municipality is promoting the Weskus brand nationally, and the Business Chamber is active in reaching out to businesses and even corporates”.
Whether you want to work remotely from the countryside or open a business there, the region has a lot going for it.

- High speed fibre.
- Quality primary and secondary schools.
- Affordable residential and commercial property.
- Access to quality healthcare.
People tend to live close to where they work. When they retire, they move to where they’ve always wanted to be. An alternative approach could be to decide where you’d like to live, and then work from there.
